The story started when the founders Jimny Marmolejo Valencia and María Fernanda Sánchez arrived to Santa Marta from Cali and started up a hot dog stand. Later they used their earnings from that business to open up a fast food restaurant, De Ricuras.
Every night at De Ricruas they used the left-overs from the kitchen on top of a big pizza, that became highly popular with the customers. When one night, a customer ordered "the pizza that looks like vomit", the name spread all over town: Pizza Vómito. Eventually the owners decided to use the name for their establishment that now counts with one outlet in Santa Marta and one in the nearby resort, Rodadero.
An excellent example of the mamadero de gallo-attitude of the costeños! (somewhat untranslatable but implying not taking life very seriously).
